چرا زبان انگلیسی؟

زبان توسعه یافته ترین ابزار فکری است که برای برقراری ارتباط بین انسانها و جوامع انسانی به کار گرفته می شود. گرچه با ابزارهای دیگری مانند علایم، رقص و هنرهای بصری همچون نقاشی و مجسمه سازی نیز می توان ارتباط برقرار نمود، اما انتقال مفاهیم پیچیده ذهنی به ساده ترین و کامل ترین شکل ممکن فقط از طریق زبان نوشتاری و گفتاری ممکن است.

براي پرسيدن ساعت مي توانيم از اين جملات استفاده كنيم:

What time is it?

What’s the time?

Have you got the time?

1. در مكالمات روزمره رايجترين روش براي گفتن ساعت به كسي، ابتدا گفتن دقيقه و بعد از آن از  to  يا past قبل از ساعت  استفاده مي‌كنيم . past به معناي گذشته و to به معناي مانده است.

براي مثال:

It’s ten past six. (6: 10)

It’s twenty past eleven. (11: 20)

It’s eight minutes past six. (6:08)

It’s six minutes to eight. (7: 54)

It’s five to six. (5: 55)

It’s ten to nine. (8: 50)

British or American English

There are many differences between British and American English. Generally, it doesn't matter which variety of English you speak or write, and most native English speakers will understand you – whichever type of English you use.

Here are some of the biggest differences between British and American English.

Using Wish

English speakers use "wish" to show that they want a situation to be different. The verb after "wish" is one tense back, so that if you are wishing for a different present situation, the tense that follows "wish" is past simple or past continuous. If you are wishing that a past situation was different, the tense that comes after "wish" is past perfect. You can also use "wish" with modal verbs in English.
